about
built around the work between a coach and an athlete.
Trainbase is a coaching platform with one center: the relationship between a coach and the person they train. Everything else, the training, the nutrition, the body metrics, the price, follows from taking that relationship seriously.
why we are rebuilding something that already works
Trainbase is the greenfield reimagining of a coaching system that has been used in real practice. The original works. It runs a roster, builds programs from its own large template library, tracks body metrics and nutrition, and logs session-by-session performance against a movement library. We are not starting from a blank page; we are starting from a product that proved its ideas with real coaches and real athletes.
What we are after is faster, clearer, and honest, with every feature carried forward and nothing that made the original real left behind. The center holds: a coach designs the work and a client sees exactly what their coach intends, their own body, diet, training history, and the notes left after each session. Every food, exercise, and template a coach adds is their own and private to them, beside the foods shared across Trainbase, so each coach shapes the library for their own athletes without touching anyone else’s.
five things we believe
These are not slogans. Each one is a decision baked into how the platform is priced, structured, and built.
- 01
every feature included
Trainbase is $25 AUD a month per coach, with their first 5 clients included, then $5 AUD a month for each client after that. No feature sits behind an upgrade, and the whole price is on the pricing page.

mutual accountability
Most platforms push a program one way and wait for a report back. Trainbase is one shared data model: when a client logs a set, the coach sees the program itself change. Accountability is structural, not a check-in bolted on top.

all in one place
Training, nutrition, body metrics, and performance live on one platform, not four apps that do not talk to each other. A coach runs the whole practice from a single screen, and a client sees one honest picture.

a platform with two sides
Trainbase is a tool for coaches and a consumer app that stands on its own. The client side is a full app in its own right: an athlete sees their own body, diet, and training history, and the notes their coach left.

honest telemetry
The data is the light. Recomposition is shown on one honest scale: lean climbing, fat falling, the gap between current and goal the thing you watch close. No flattering auto-scale, no metric dressed up to look like progress it is not.

the library a gym starts with
Every gym starts with 12,232 foods from three public databases, each tagged with its source. Exercises and programs are each coach’s own, and search and filtering are first-class from the first one.
who owns what
A small team, each accountable for one part of the bar.
Sets the direction and the bar. The product is a greenfield reimagining of a coaching system Leon ran in practice, so the founding question on every screen is the practitioner's: does this actually help a coach do the work.
Owns the architecture. The decision that mutual accountability is an emergent property of a single unified data model, two interfaces over one source of truth, with row-level isolation as the load-bearing boundary, is his.
Owns the coaching judgment the platform encodes: how a program is built, how nutrition is tracked without tipping into obsession, what a client actually needs to see after a session. The voice in the product is a coach's voice.
The team is small on purpose. The thinking behind the platform is laid out, in full, on the blog, where the founder, the technical director, and a head coach write under their own names.
